Performance Club, by Saiyō

Move. Connect. Recharge.

A free, invitation-only community for technology leaders who believe life is better when we move.

Free · Invitation only · All levels welcome

Why we created it

Leadership is relentless. Diaries fill, evenings disappear, and the first thing to go is usually the thing that keeps you steady.

Performance Club started with a simple observation: the leaders we work with are at their best when they move. Sharper thinking, better decisions, more patience with the hard days.

So we built somewhere for that to happen together. There's no wellness programme and no membership fee — just a group of people who show up, move, and end up talking about everything else afterwards.

There is no cost to join and no subscription. Saiyō covers the club.

Sessions are covered

Regular sessions, venues and the everyday running of the club are funded by us.

The two of us

Two very different athletes. One shared belief.

We have very different relationships with fitness, but we keep reaching the same conclusion about what movement does for the rest of life.

Sam mid sled push during a training session

Sam

What's possible

Sam has spent years finding out what the human body can do when you train it properly.

He has represented Great Britain in triathlon, is a qualified personal trainer, and now competes as an Elite 15 HYROX Doubles athlete.

Training has shaped the way he thinks about health, discipline, consistency, recovery and performance. It is not something he tries to fit in occasionally. It is part of how he lives.

That gives Performance Club something unusual: genuine access to somebody competing at the sharp end of the sport who is also qualified to help other people train.

But Sam does not want this to be a club for elite athletes. Quite the opposite. Most Performance Club members are not going to train like Sam. That is the point. We want to take what he has learned from elite sport and make it useful for people with jobs, businesses, families and busy lives.

Chris lacing his running shoes on the doorstep early in the morning

Chris

What's realistic

Chris is not an elite athlete. He is a founder, a husband and a dad trying to fit fitness around everything else.

He has raced HYROX, loves training and regularly sets himself goals that Sam then has to explain are unrealistic.

Training has to compete with running Saiyō, customers, employees, travel, school runs, family holidays, bad nights of sleep and the weeks where everything else takes over.

For Chris, fitness is not primarily about medals. It is one of the ways he manages the pressure of everything else. It is where the stress goes. It helps him clear his head, supports his mental wellbeing, and gives him goals outside of the business.

Sometimes it is about getting fitter. Sometimes it is about preparing for an event. And sometimes it is simply about getting out of his own head for an hour.

The dynamic between us

Elite expertise. Real life.

Ask Sam what the ideal training week looks like and he'll walk you through it. Ask Chris and you'll get a different answer: great, I've got three hours this week, two children and a customer dinner on Thursday. What should I actually do?

That conversation is basically the club. Nobody should have to organise their life around fitness — the job is to make fitness fit the life you've already got.

Sam brings the knowledge and Chris asks the stupid questions. Somewhere between the two, we figure out what's actually going to work for real people.

The shared belief

We are better when we move.

We've arrived at the same place from very different directions. An hour of movement puts a wall between you and the working day, gives the stress somewhere to go, and usually sends you back to your desk — or your family — in a better state than you left.

Better at work, better at home, better in ourselves. Not because of any programme. Just because getting out and doing something physical changes how the rest of the day feels.

Performance Club is our attempt to help more people find their version of that.

What happens when an elite athlete coaches a busy founder?

Sam's plan. Chris's reality.

Chris gets to be the guinea pig. Sam gets to tell him what he's doing wrong. And we'll share what happens.

Not just the successful sessions and PBs. The missed workouts, work trips, family holidays, bad weeks and compromises too. Because that is what sustainable fitness actually looks like for most people.

The question we want to answer alongside our members is: how fit can a normal, busy person realistically become without allowing fitness to take over their life?

Fitness level is irrelevant here.

Someone training for an Elite HYROX race belongs. Someone preparing for their first HYROX belongs. Someone trying to run 5K belongs. Someone trying to start exercising twice a week belongs.

The community is curated based on people, not athletic ability.

You don't need to train like Sam.

You don't need to race like Chris.

You don't need to race at all.

You just need to want to do something positive for yourself.

Performance is personal.

For one person it's a sub-three marathon. For another it's a walk on a Tuesday when the week has been brutal. We don't rank it, and there's no standard to meet before you belong here.

Three chapters

Move. Connect. Recharge.

Adults of mixed ages carrying sandbags and pushing sleds in a functional fitness session

Move

Sessions, races, rides, walks and everything between. Structured enough to aim at, relaxed enough to enjoy.

A mixed group walking and talking together on a coastal path

Connect

Real conversation with people who understand the job, built shoulder to shoulder rather than across a table.

Steam rising from an outdoor sauna and cold plunge beside a lake at dawn

Recharge

Time that gives something back: recovery, quiet, sleep, a break from the noise of the week.

Fitness as a reset

Sometimes the best thing you can do for work is step away from it.

An hour of movement rarely feels like a business decision. Then the problem you'd been circling all morning quietly solves itself somewhere around the halfway point.

What this isn't

There are no networking events here.

No lanyards, no pitches, no round-the-room introductions. We run, train, compete, walk, play and eat breakfast. The relationships form because of what you did together, not because someone made you.

The member journey

We take care of the details.

  1. 01

    You request an invitation.

  2. 02

We review it personally and get in touch.

  3. 03

You meet the club at something small.

  4. 04

You get access to the calendar and the app.

  5. 05

You show up when it suits you.

The app

Your club, in one place.

Experiences, sign-ups, challenges and the people you'll be moving with. Quiet, simple, and built for members rather than for an app store.

Available only to invited members

Guests

Bring your team. Bring someone who'd love it.

Members can bring guests to most experiences. It's the best way to grow the club: people you'd vouch for, arriving with someone they already trust. Just let us know in advance so we can look after them properly.

Community

Small enough to know people. Strong enough to open new worlds.

We curate carefully, and we do it for atmosphere rather than status. The club works when everyone in it is generous, unpretentious and genuinely glad the person next to them turned up.

Who it's for

People who lead in technology, and who'd rather be moving.

  • Founders and CEOs
  • CTOs and engineering leaders
  • CROs and sales leaders
  • CPOs and product leaders
  • Marketing and customer leaders
  • Investors and operating partners

You're not joining a pipeline. You're joining a group of peers who happen to work in the same world.

This year

Sam's challenge

Something uncomfortable, announced early enough that backing out would be embarrassing. Members are welcome to train for it, enter alongside him, or simply enjoy watching it hurt.

Chris's experiment

Consistency over heroics: what happens to work, sleep and mood when movement becomes non-negotiable for a year, around a business and three kids. Progress shared honestly, bad weeks included.

Why Saiyō funds it

Because we'd rather build a community than run another campaign.

Saiyō spends its working life inside technology businesses as embedded headhunters. Performance Club is what we do with the rest of it. There's no obligation to work with us, and no sales conversation attached to membership. If it ever starts to feel like one, tell us and we'll fix it.
